We’re always evolving — refining our courses and responding to what our members tell us they need. One request that comes up time and again is for creative mentoring: a space to talk about your own work, reflect on its direction, and gain constructive guidance without having to commit to another full technical course.

Advanced Mentoring is our answer to that. It’s a new, structured, and affordable online mentoring programme created especially for Advanced Oils members who want to move beyond technical study and develop their own original creative painting. It’s more personal than Advanced Oils, less time-consuming than the Diploma, and far more flexible and affordable than traditional in-person mentoring.

The programme runs alongside your existing Advanced Oils membership, giving you focused creative mentoring while helping you use the TOP and AO technical resources strategically to meet those creative aims. It’s designed to help you move from learning how to paint to understanding what your painting is saying — from technique to voice, and from study to independence.

This programme is ideal for painters who want to move from mastering technique to creating original, personal work — to build confidence, find clarity, and maintain momentum with professional feedback and accountability. It’s designed to help you paint not only well, but meaningfully.

For those who prefer more intensive engagement, in-person one-to-one mentoring — where Martin works directly with you on your paintings in the studio — remains available. But for most painters, this new online format provides the perfect balance: it offers ta great level of critical and creative insight, while remaining accessible, flexible, and affordable.
