Led by professional painter and mentor Martin Kinnear, whose work and teaching includes The Royal College of Art, the programme brings together structured teaching, practical projects, and thoughtful reflection.

Martin’s approach to painting is shaped by more than twenty-five years of studio practice and by current doctoral research at The Courtauld Institute of Art, one of the world’s leading centres for the study of painting. That combination of studio experience and art-historical insight informs the way the programme is taught: practical, thoughtful, and grounded in the realities of painting.

TOP combines structured teaching with the freedom to work at your own pace. Each month brings a new painting project, practical skill development, and the opportunity to reflect on your work alongside other painters who share the same curiosity and commitment.

This is not a fast-paced online course or a stream of disconnected videos. It is a calm, guided studio rhythm designed to help painters develop confidence, understanding, and personal direction over time.

How It Works Each Month

Week 1 – Project Introduction

Martin introduces the new monthly painting project with a guided demonstration. Watch on demand and begin at a pace that suits you.

Week 2 – Skills Focus

A dedicated teaching session exploring key techniques that support the project. This is where practical understanding deepens.

Week 3 – Project Completion

Martin guides the final stages of the painting so you can complete the work with confidence.

Week 4 – Live Group Discussion

A relaxed Zoom conversation where members share progress, reflect on challenges, and explore ideas for future work.

This final stage is often where the most valuable learning takes place.
